Karen J Hernandez

Born and raised in New York City, I became interested in photography at the age of 8. My dad gave me a brief lesson in photography and I haven't looked back since that day. On occasion I still use the 35mm Ricoh camera that I grew up using. I'm a self taught photographer, with knowledge in processing, printing b&w 35mm film, DSLR cameras, and software such as Photoshop & Lightroom. I like to approach photography from a documentary perspective and have done so for portraits, weddings, music shows, parties, sporting events, comedy shows, dance recitals, music videos, movie stills and of course for my personal work as well. I've had photographs published in magazines and also for album cover art. I love to learn and grow with photography because it is constantly evolving. I also love to teach those who've never used any type of camera to show them how photography can change their outlook on life (positively) and of course I love to shoot. I'm located in NYC, but have access to travel through out the Tri-State region. Please note that I am not a graphic designer. I don't believe in heavily altering an image to the point where it no longer resembles the original photograph.
